Memorial Service conducted by Retired Chief David Burris - a Shipmate and friend.
“In Memory of Frank Speer”
“ I want to thank you all for being here today to pay tribute to Frank Speer. Frank served aboard the USS DAVIDSON ( DE-1045) from 1965 through 1970 as a boatswain's mate and fast became a leading character on the ship and remained that way the rest of his life.
He was one of the founding fathers of the USS DAVIDSON Reunion Association. In the five years he attended the reunion he became everyone's friend. He will always be missed and well thought of.” President Robert Schippers – shipmate and friend

“Crossing the Bar”
by Alfred Lord Tennyson
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
